How much does an hour on the ice at City Green cost? For the last two seasons it was $18 for adults and $15 for kids, any day of the week. When Skate City Springs opens on Friday, Nov. 13, there will be two prices. Monday through Thursday, an adult session costs $15 and a child's costs $12. Friday through Sunday stays at $18 and $15.
So the rink got cheaper only on the four days with no themed nights on the calendar. Every weekend event, from Friday disco skates to Saturday costume parties to the Sparkle Sunday crowd, comes at the full price, and the discount goes to plain skating on a school night. If you live close enough to walk over after dinner, the weeknight hour is the best deal City Springs has offered this time of year.
Two seasons at one price, then a split
The city's official Skate City Springs page calls the change "tiered pricing" and lists it as new this season. The weekday cut stands out because the old price held so steadily. The season that opened in November 2024 charged $18 for adults and $15 for children, with one-hour sessions. The City of Sandy Springs announcement for 2025-26 kept those same numbers for adults and for children ages 2 to 9.
| Season | Dates | Adult | Child, ages 2–9 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2025-26 | Nov. 14, 2025 – Jan. 19, 2026 | $18 every day | $15 every day |
| 2026-27, Monday–Thursday | Nov. 13, 2026 – Jan. 18, 2027 | $15 | $12 |
| 2026-27, Friday–Sunday | Nov. 13, 2026 – Jan. 18, 2027 | $18 | $15 |
For two adults and two kids, a weeknight session comes to $54 and a weekend session to $66. That's $12 less for the same hour on the same real ice. Skate rental is included at both prices. The season has also moved one day earlier at both ends. It opens a day earlier in November than last year and closes a day earlier in January. The final day, Monday, Jan. 18, 2027, falls in the weekday price tier.
What the weekend price pays for
The full price on Friday through Sunday pays for all of the season's programming. The city has scheduled it like this:
- Fridays: Disco Slide Nights start at 6 p.m. The rink asks for neon, sequins, metallics and fun socks. A DJ calls couples' skates and fast laps, and maybe a limbo.
- Saturdays: Themed nights run from 8 to 10 p.m. Skaters who dress for the theme get a free hot cocoa.
- Opening night: On Friday, Nov. 13, the Atlanta Figure Skating Club performs an exhibition at 7 p.m. The same night is Fright Night, so last month's Halloween costume gets a second outing.
The City Springs events calendar lists the rest of the themed nights by date.
- '80s Night, Nov. 21
- Masquerade Ball, Nov. 28
- K-Pop Vibe, Dec. 5
- Superheroes/Villains Night, Dec. 12
- Ugly Sweater Night, Dec. 19
- Pajama Party, Dec. 26
Every date after opening night is a Saturday, so all of the season's costume nights are at the $18 price. The rink has also added group packages this year. They pair skating with food and gathering space, in options like a Classic Pizza Package or an All-American Grill package with unlimited hot cocoa. Last season offered group rates for parties of 10 or more, without the food. Groups and parties book on the skate page. Corporate outings go through [email protected].
What the weekday price still includes
Plenty carries over to the $15 nights. Every night is Glow Night at 6 p.m., Monday included. Free Skate Helpers are on the ice for anyone still finding their balance, and the rental skates come with the ticket. A session lasts an hour, and the rink asks you to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to pick up skates.
Parking works in your favor on any night of the week. The City Springs underground garage has entrances at 230 Mount Vernon Hwy NE and 6300 Blue Stone Rd. Its posted rates are free for the first two hours and $4 for two to three hours, and it takes cards only. An hour of skating plus the early skate pickup fits inside the free two hours with time left for cocoa from the concession stand. The City Springs parking page mentions ongoing garage maintenance, so check it before you head over.
Capacity is limited and the city recommends booking online. If you'd rather walk up, call (404) 890-6690 first to check availability. Tickets are sold through the city's ticketing partner, FareHarbor, from the skate page.
The weeknights already have plans attached
The weekday discount is more useful because the City Springs calendar has put other holiday events on weeknights too.
On Wednesday, Dec. 2, Heritage Sandy Springs hosts a Snow Day Movie Matinee of Frozen. A matinee in the afternoon and the 6 p.m. Glow Night at weekday prices make an easy midweek outing with kids.
From Nov. 27 through Dec. 6, Roswell Dance Theatre performs The Nutcracker at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center at 1 Galambos Way, which is the same address as the rink. If your tickets are for a weeknight performance, you can skate at the $15 price and walk to your seats.
Sparkle Sunday runs on its own schedule
The busiest day of the season is Sunday, Dec. 6, when Sparkle Sandy Springs fills the City Springs District. It's a Sunday, so the rink charges the weekend price, and the city has set special hours. Skate City Springs opens at 11 a.m. and closes at 8 p.m. that day, with skating to live holiday music from 4:30 p.m.
The city's schedule for the rest of the evening:
- 4 p.m.: Sparkle Sandy Springs begins
- 4:30 p.m.: The Ansley Stewart Band starts playing live holiday music
- 6 p.m.: The Sparkle Parade steps off, and Sparkle Wonderland closes
- About 6:50 p.m.: The tree and menorah are lit
- 7:30 p.m.: Food trucks close
- 8 p.m.: The gift market closes
If you want to skate on Sparkle day before the parade crowds arrive, the late morning and early afternoon are open on the rink's schedule. The lighting stays up after the evening ends. The city lights the menorah each night of Hanukkah, and the tree stays lit until New Year's Day. From Dec. 6 through New Year's Day, every $15 weeknight session comes with the lit tree on City Green.
A season that runs past the holidays
Skate City Springs stays open well into January, through Jan. 18, 2027. The Pajama Party on Dec. 26 is the last themed night on the calendar. The rink stays open for three more weeks after that, with Disco Slide Fridays and the nightly 6 p.m. Glow Night, and four days of every week still priced at $15 for adults and $12 for kids ages 2 to 9.
I'm a homebuilder, and the City Springs calendar reminds me of a well-planned house: every part has a clear job. When friends or family ask me which night to book, I tell them to pick a Tuesday after the tree is lit and plan to be home before the garage starts charging. If you're curious what your own place near City Green is worth this season, Kenna Daws can put together your instant home valuation, and I'm always happy to compare skate-night notes.
